Motorists Chairman, President and CEO John Bishop honored for dedication to insurance education
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 21, 2011) – The Motorists Insurance Group has a rich tradition of working closely with industry organizations to promote insurance education to students in order to help build and attract a talented workforce.
In recognition of the commitment the company has made to this cause, Motorists Chairman, President and CEO John J. Bishop was honored with The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation’s 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award during the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies' Annual Convention in Indianapolis on Sept. 20.
"John has been one of our greatest contributors and this award is well-deserved," said Donald J. Rebele, president and CEO of The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation. "His long-standing personal commitment to The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation has helped it continue to develop meaningful insurance education programs."
The lifetime achievement award recognizes industry leaders for their commitment to education and support of the missions of The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation and NAMIC.
"I am both humbled and honored to receive this very special recognition from The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation," said Bishop, who is past chairman of the Foundation's board of trustees. "Motorists and the Foundation share a deep commitment to educate and encourage young people to pursue careers in the risk management and insurance industry."
Rebele cited Bishop's efforts to unite The Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education and NAMI's Insurance Education Institute as an example of the vision and leadership he provided the Foundation board through the years.
The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation was formed in 2008 as a result of the discussion Bishop helped start.
"He's continually initiating where we are headed. He has been a strong proponent of keeping us moving forward," Rebele said.
